Flying ScotsmanAfter her return to steam, Flying Scotsman paid a visit to Scotland. Along with many others I got out my long lens and stood on top of the multi-story car park at the Ferrytoll Park & Ride. She was idling down from the bridge and the background of bright yellow gorse wasn’t ideal, but I was delighted to see her.
She is currently turned out in her BR guise, complete with smoke deflectors. Personally I think there is almost no colour better than BR Green for almost any steam engine, other than Garter Blue on an A4 and black on Black 5s and Black 8s.
PrimrosesMy garden was awash with spring flowers. I planted some primroses a while back and they are happily self-seeding, the daffodils come up every year and the snakes-head fritillary seems happy enough as well.
GrCh Shunra FawntasiaTaken at the Shorthair Cat Club of Scotland show, held at the Lomond Centre in Glenrothes. Eadlin is showing her fantastic eye colour & shape and her lovely warm slightly pink coat colour. To my joy she was awarded Best Oriental Adult and I got a £10 voucher to spend at one of the stalls.
Muckhart MillI was trying to get to Cauldron Linn on the River Devon and couldn’t work out how, so continued along the track to Muckhart Mill. There are some lovely old stone buildings, and one of them had this very attractive external iron staircase.
There were also beautiful views of the Ochils with the last of the winter’s snow, and the Devon valley.
Cambo Beach
Cambo Beach is a favourite when snowdrops are out. I park at Kingsbarns and walk along the beach to the woodland. The beach itself has gorgeous patterns in the sand.
I visited these Falls after torrential rain in the previous couple of days – almost an inch at home on Boxing Day, the 26th. Roads had been closed and there were still deep pools of water and lots of gravel had been washed over the road.
THE David. The statue by Michelangelo, in the Accademia in Florence. it’s wonderful, as are his others in the gallery, and floats above the crowds on a tall plinth.
