Cambo Beach is a favourite when snowdrops are out. I park at Kingsbarns and walk along the beach to the woodland. The beach itself has gorgeous patterns in the sand.
I love the fluffy seed heads on bulrushes, and here I also love the contrast between the sharp stalks, and the water behind.
THE David. The statue by Michelangelo, in the Accademia in Florence. it’s wonderful, as are his others in the gallery, and floats above the crowds on a tall plinth.
Sienna is known for Porchetta (roast pork loin) rolls, and in the west corner of the Palio is Salumeria Il Cencio. They have some benches on the first floor with a wonderful view across the Palio. They are reached by this interesting spiral staircase. You can see the benches on Google Earth, if you look closely enough.
When I visited Lasham Gliding Club I asked for a tour round the Gliding Heritage Centre, which has a stunning collection of historical and older gliders, many of which have been beautifully restore to flying condition. This glider wing was stored upright rather than rigged on the glider.
