These were the first two Munros I attempted on returning to serious hill walking in 2023, and I only completed the first one – Mayar. By the time I reached the bottom of the climb up to Driesh I felt too tired for another climb, and by the time I got back to the road I was very, very tired.
This time I was clearly fitter! The ascent at the back of Corrie Fee didn’t feel as tough, the ascent up to Driesh wasn’t a problem and the endless descent didn’t seem as difficult.
I was about a month earlier in the year and there was a small amount of snow left.
