Also taken at Birnie Loch. Judging by the size of the black knob at the base of his bill, this looks like a cob (male) swan to me. He was busy preening and not concerned about me taking photos of him.
This was taken in the late afternoon, but mute swans do have warm colours in their neck feathers – just not quite was warm as here!
