The day after the night before is great for walking as there are so few people about. I saw less than a handful on the track from the car park at Linn of Dee on my way to and from it’s less famous cousin the Chest of Dee.
There’s a small gain of 60m / 195′ from the car park but as it’s a very steady gain over approx. 5 ½ km / 3 ½ miles the path felt flat.
The roads were pleasantly empty as well. Apparently this is also a wonderful wild swimming spot, but not in the middle of winter on a none-to-warm day! It’s at an altitude of 430m / 1400′ so it’s pretty parky up there.
