The glider had been to Shirenewton Sailplanes, south of Shrewsbury, to get it’s wings refinished. I went down on my own to collect it. I had never been to that area before so took the chance to stay at the Midland Gliding Club for a few nights and explore the area.
When I arrived flying was in progress. The wind was blowing onto the ridge and the winch was gently lobbing gliders high enough that they could fly forward into the hill lift. Unfortunately after the long drive down I felt to tired to fly – indeed I was that tired I forgot I would be flying with an instructor!
There were also some heavy showers in the vicinity which made for some dramatic skies.
