It’s many, many years since I last visited York Minster. I found that unless I was going in to worship (!) there was quite a hefty entry fee, but I paid it. The Minster is stunning, and I don’t remember going in the Chapter House in years past, and certainly not into the Undercroft (Crypt) where remains of the old Norman minster can be seen.
There was also had an interesting exhibition (on until 1 Jun 2025) about how it recovered from the massive fire in 1984. I was living in Leeds at the time and there were dramatic photos on the front of the local and national newspapers.
