This is normally climbed with Geal Chàrn, to it’s north, but when I climbed that the weather was deteriorating so I cut my walk short. I went back this year to complete it. The weather was excellent, the start is at the wonderfully named Balsporran Cottages, the estate path up Allt Corrie Fhar made for quick (by my slow standards!) progress, there were stone steps laid up much of the very boggy final ascent and I managed to get back over the river without getting wet. Walking poles are a huge help with this sort of thing!
The Drumochter Munros are often spoken of somewhat dismissively, but I had a fabulous view over Loch Ericht to just before I started the final ascent towards Ben Alder.
For late April there was very little snow left. 2025 was another year when eventually all the snow patches vanished. Global warming is real.
