East Lomond Iron Age Fort (10 Jul 2025)

I knew there was a Hill Fort up there, but not that there had been excavations every summer for many years. It was built by the Picts who were replaced by the Gaels.

This Hill Fort has appeared several times in the media since the excavations started, including Aberdeen University (who supervise the digs), the Fife Courier and the BBC.

The excavations are on the same small plateaux to the south of the summit that the trig point is, hence looking down on it in the photo.
