Much of the Fife Coastal Path is gorgeous, especially in the East Neuk. The stretch from St Monans to Anstruther is no exception. From St Monans it passes a windmill, and the view from the platform it’s on is beautiful. There is a tidal swimming pool, then the fishing village of Pittenweem (which still has a fish market), then it skirts Anstruther Golf Club before crossing the Dreel Burn and entering Anstruther.
As it was low tide, I wondered about crossing the Dreel Burn on the stepping stones but as I didn’t have walking poles with me I gave it a miss. I saw a few people cross successfully and then one fell in!
Anstruther is a great place for fish & chips – there are at least three chippies there. My portion was so huge that most of the chips went in the bin. Because of the seagulls the bins resemble night safes.
