It starts at the splendidly-named Balsporran Cottages, and there is a good size car park there.

I crossed the railway at the level crossing and promptly set off up the wrong path! However I realised what I had done and had no problem cutting across to the right one. It was not an especially enjoyable climb, though it improved once I gained height and the ground started to be a bit frozen.

However as I reached the summit a gorgeous view across Loch Ericht to the Ben Alder Forest appeared, and that made it all worth while. The view continued unfolding all the way to the col with A’ Mharconaich and I was sorry to turn away from it.

Shutter speed: 1/1900s

Aperture: ƒ/1.7

ISO: 60

Focal length: 4.38mm

Taken: 23 October, 2023 08:10

Camera: Pixel 6a

My original intention was to climb this Munro, plus A’ Mharconaich, but I thought the weather was starting to close in so cut my walk short.
