After her return to steam, Flying Scotsman paid a visit to Scotland. Along with many others I got out my long lens and stood on top of the multi-story car park at the Ferrytoll Park & Ride. She was idling down from the bridge and the background of bright yellow gorse wasn’t ideal, but I was delighted to see her.
She is currently turned out in her BR guise, complete with smoke deflectors. Personally I think there is almost no colour better than BR Green for almost any steam engine, other than Garter Blue on an A4 and black on Black 5s and Black 8s.
My garden was awash with spring flowers. I planted some primroses a while back and they are happily self-seeding, the daffodils come up every year and the snakes-head fritillary seems happy enough as well.
Taken at the Shorthair Cat Club of Scotland show, held at the Lomond Centre in Glenrothes. Eadlin is showing her fantastic eye colour & shape and her lovely warm slightly pink coat colour. To my joy she was awarded Best Oriental Adult and I got a £10 voucher to spend at one of the stalls.
I visited these Falls after torrential rain in the previous couple of days – almost an inch at home on Boxing Day, the 26th. Roads had been closed and there were still deep pools of water and lots of gravel had been washed over the road.
San Gimignano is a wonderful Tuscan hill town, with more of it’s tower houses left than any other similar town. It’s a wonderful place to visit both for views of it, and from it. There is also a fabulous Gelateria(ice cream shop) in one of the squares.
